as a mental health provider, this phenomena reminds me of the “therapeutic contamination” we saw among the borderline population in the late 90’s. this is a damaging trend that reeks of homophobia and misogyny.

A vocal, politically-motivated minority should not be able to censor research they (think they) don't like. Let the issues be debated. Let the truth come to light. And let us proceed, all of us, with care and compassion.

I fully support the ability to have free discourse in educational institutions which is supposed to be one of their pillars. This is disgraceful that an institution would cave to such demands to silence research they don't like.

Politics has no place in scholarly medical research. Censorship like this is shameful.

Genuine research is desperately needed in this area. It will save lives. Carry on Dr. Littman.

It is supremely important to the authenticity of academia to publish well done research and writing of different opinions.

Do the right thing for youth and defend science related to them against the pile-on mobs who seek to silence.

I'm signing as a parent and science teacher very concerned about the suppression of this important study.

The howling mob of the perpetually butthurt needs to get over it. Be who or what you want to be, but don't expect everyone else to just agree. You who demand acceptance have to be willing to do a little accepting. Start by accepting the idea that not everybody accepts the idea that your claims are reasonable. Threatening people who doubt your claims is no better than people threatening you for pretending you're a giraffe.

In 1633, Galileo Galilei was convicted of heresy for daring to suggest that, in accordance with the results of his scientific research, the Earth revolves around the Sun. It can be dangerous to stand behind the results of research that refutes whatever dogma of the day prevails, but covering up or hiding the results of academic or scientific research - like that of Dr. Lisa Littman's study - for fear of angering a religious or political group indicates a lack of academic (and moral) integrity. In the words of P.C. Hodgell, "If it can be destroyed by the truth, it ought to be destroyed by the truth."

I am a parent in this situation with my child and our situation also confirms all the research that Dr. Littman did with ROGD. This phenomenon must be studied if people like my daughter are to be understood and helped properly.
