More discussion, more planning, more community outreach and more transparency from City Council and Mayor's office.

We should never lose sight of the health risks that are present when living on top of superfund sites. We should never forget the disaster of Love Canal in Niagara Falls NY.

It’s time for our elected officials to listen to the community. Clean up the canal first and then let’s talk about what is really feasible along the Gowanus. CB 6 it’s time for an inter agency town hall

It is imperative that everyone have a voice on and an opportunity to learn about this issue. The stakes are high

The city must have a coherent plan for rezoning involving all members of the community as well as city agencies.

This rezoning proposal is a shanda, (a shameful disgrace), and Bridging Gowanus is a Sham. Please have the courage to respect the community and reject the rezoning.

No glass towers. No over development in a flood zone.

Unless and until the Gowanus is cleaned up, no further development should take place.

They need to finish cleaning up the canal before there is any discussion about rezoning and additional building. The politicians are thinking about themselves and their future campaigns and not the constituents they are supposed to be serving. It is disgraceful!

Please stop bombarding Gowanus with high rises!

I ask for no changes to the current Gowanus zoning. The people who live here (including me) want to see the Gowanus develop gradually and organically. Allow the remediation of the Gowanus Canal to continue without the pressure of rezoning the uplands. Let the DEP figure out how they will manage the additional sewage created by 8,400 apartments (at least 16,800 toilets and 16,800 sinks) before you rezone. Before you rezone, allow the Gowanus Canal to become a pollution-free waterway, free of human waste contamination.

I have lived in Carroll Gardens for 23 years and have experienced first hand the rapid and (mostly) great revitalization of the area and the many changes that have resulted. I am now siding with my neighbors and CORD who demand responsible, thoughtful development that considers the community needs, not those of the developers and politicians who are trying to advance aggressive, out-sized even reckless plans to upzone Gowanus. CB6, we need your help!

So long as there are no regulatory controls limiting the level of sewage pathogens found in the canal water, it is reprehensible that CDP should allow housing along the banks of the canal. It is reckless that any elected official would support housing people along an open sewer in the name of providing "affordable housing".

Mitigation for Canal cleanup from City's real "timeline" should've been presented after Hurricane Sandy rather than causing displacements of small mom & pop shops.

The massive heights proposed for this rezoning of a low height profile will put the surrounding housing stock in the shade.
