We, the undersigned individuals representing Brockton’s youth, respectfully urge Brockton City Councilor Jass Stewart to run for Mayor instead of re-election to the City Council. Based on our many personal experiences with Councilor Stewart, his many accomplishments as our representative, and his ability to “stand up” for what’s right while too many elected officials simply “fall into place,” we are confident he is the right person to lead the city into the future. As Mayor, he will have more direct influence to continue to do the following and more: aid students and families find solutions to their economic problems by connecting them to jobs and opportunities; support student education and personal growth by volunteering for events and attending/ participating in activities; and pushing forward initiatives to enrich students’ educational experiences in the city. Councilor Stewart is forward-thinking, understands and works with/for us, and cares!! He will make a great Mayor of Brockton.

Personal Statements:

Bryan Duong: I am facebook friends with Jass Stewart. I love how he really cares for the
Brockton youth and periodically posts job opportunities to help those of us going into college find ways to finance our educations. Being top in my class, I truly see the benefits behind his educational policies. I hope to see him become mayor so that he can push his policies on a larger scale.

Bolutife Anifowose: It would be great to have City-Councilor Jass Stewart run as Mayor of Brockton. His willingness to create time for youth of Brockton is amazing. He has been an integral of creating a technology/ business initiative in Brockton based from internship I am a part of at The Robert R Taylor Network (RRTN )at MIT. He's mastered the art of connecting with his community on a personal level, and that's exactly why he should be mayor. He's an intelligent, hard-working, open-minded, and focused individual. From the conversations I've had with him, I'm sure he has great plans and intentions for
our city. Let's make him the next Mayor of Brockton.

Cole Andrade: Jass is one of the most inspiring people I know. Being a gay African American as well as going through so much adversity and coming out on top makes him an excellent role model for other gay people - all people - in our society. I’d love to see Jass as the mayor of our city.

Loic Assobmo: I would definitely love to see Jass run for mayor. It’s thanks to him that I was successfully able to co-organize a school trip to Washington D.C for the BEYA conference. He was also very active in helping me and a few of my friends find summer jobs to finance our college education. He has been an active supporter of all the initiatives I have proposed for Brockton through my RRTN at MIT internship. I think he should run for Mayor instead of City Councilor, that way he can continue to do what he has been doing on a larger scale.
