Bristol Ice Rink is to close next year with the building being turned into student flats. The rink, which opened in 1966, is home to the Pitbulls ice hockey team and was the place where Olympic gold medallist Robin Cousins learnt to skate. Plans are in their early stages to redevelop the site on Trenchard Street. The site's owner, the Unite group, which builds student accommodation, said the O2 Academy music venue would not be affected but the ice rink would. Please sign this petition and hopefully we can get it to catch the eyes of the officials and stop this landmark being bulldozed to the ground. Let it carry on entertaining generations to come! The rink's lease expires next year.

Absolutely gutted. My kids learned to skate here and now they want to tear it down for more boxes? Leave our rink alone!!

Too many flats already in the city center. We need places for kids to exercise and have fun, not just more concrete blocks for students who dont even live here all year round.
