Bristol Congestion Charge Reduction/ Waiver for Key Workers
Bristol has an essential group of frontline service staff who must, by the nature of their jobs, be able to park and drive throughout Bristol. I am talking about Social Workers; Health Visitors; Charity Workers; Drugs Workers; Housing Officers; Support Workers; Youth Offending Team officers and many others. We have office bases in the City Centre - as our client groups needs us to be centrally based but we have to visit clients and attend meetings at short notice throughout the Bristol City area. Buses and bicycles can be effective for some but do not allow for transport of clients; confidential bulky files and at times equipment. Many of us have families to get to various locations before we then go to work in the City Centre. We have to live out of the centre for affordable housing. Parking is becoming extremely difficult and very expensive for our low paid incomes. We ask the Mayor of Bristol and his executive members to consult with key workers and services based in the City to look at an affordable option for their parking needs. Alex Raikes, MBE S.A.R.I.
