Dear President Obama, I, along with the undersigned, am petitioning you to bring back to life one of rock and roll's great legends - Ricky Nelson. At the time of his death, Nelson was universally acknowledged to be the musical artist who kept rock and roll alive after Elvis Presley entered the United States Army in 1958 and whose musical contributions to the genre in the late 1950s and early 1960s were the most significant of the period. In this regard, his resurrection is a mater of national security, since no one has filled the vacancy left by Nelson's passing. In summary, bringing Ricky Nelson back to life is a step in furthering the safe and purposeful existence of the United States of America.
