Tonja originated the role of "Olivia Jerome" on ABC'S "General Hospital" in 1988. She was involved in a redemption story when she was killed off in 1990. For the next several years she played "Alex Olanov" on "One Life to Live" on and off till the show's cancellation in 2012, earning her an Emmy Nomination and several Soap Opera Digest Awards. Tonja returned to GH to much fanfare in 2017. After losing her husband in real life to pancreatic cancer in 2018, Tonja soon returned to California to focus on her career.

Last week, GH unceremoniously killed off Olivia off-screen with no notice and many loose ends left untouched to both the fans and Tonja's shock. Olivia has risen once already! And if not, OLTL characters have been merged onto GH since the show ended, so perhaps Alex (also a Mafia Queen), was posing as Olivia, or vice versa? OR perhaps an Alex/Olivia combo type on another soap. Y&R, B&B? Maybe see her paired with her real life former roomie, Kimberlin Brown? The possibilities are endless in Daytime!!!
