Bring the Waverley back to Helensburgh - Restore our pier!

Please keep our pier....vital for our town.

Would be a tragedy to lose the use of the pier for the likes of the Waverley, it’s about time Argyll and Bute invested in tourism in Helensburgh rather than charging for it.

The Pier should be repaired or replaced ASAP!

Helensburgh needs this pier, A&B council get it fixed.

The pier must be fixed,not just for the Waverley but it could bring tourists by tender from the many cruise ships calling at Greenock,and perhaps reinstate the ferry service to Kilcreggan and Gourock.

The Waverley is an integral part of summers in Helensburgh, and as such, the pier must be saved.

One of my first jobs was catching the ropes and tying them off as the Waverley docked at the pier. The iconic sight of the Waverley arriving into Helensburgh must be saved.

Helensburgh without a useable pier is unthinkable

Governments and councils bang on about 'transport links' and how we need to reduce congestion, yet they forget we have a congestion free motorway in the West Coast of Scotland, its called 'The Clyde'..... the Victorians realised it, we forgot about it. The key is WORKING PEIRS

Please save our pier it could bring in lots of money to the area and the Waverley can come in again too

This pier is part of the history of Helensburgh and shouldn’t be left to rot and disappear. It’s the focal point of the centre of town. My dad will be turning in his grave! He was assistant pondmaster at the outdoor pool and a merchant seaman in the winter. Often joining ships from the pier.

The local authority only seems to be considering investing in things that have a direct benefit to their budget. What about the civic pride, boost to tourism and resulting economic contribution the pier makes? It’s a part of the town’s history and present - it should be part of its future too!

A seaside town needs a working pier!

You must make this a priority and get the pier repaired THIS YEAR! Tourism brings money to the town. We love the Waverly, and we love fishing from the pier.

Restore the pier and bring the Waverley back. Both are important features of Helensburgh, let future generations enjoy them.
