July of 2016, Mokena Park District removed the play ground equipment at McGovney Park, located at 19345 S. Schoolhouse Road, Mokena. The previous playground equipment not only had equipment and slides for all ages, there were also swing sets for children and babies of all ages. The new equipment is only geared for kids ages 5-12 and there are no swing sets. For many families, McGovney Park is the only park in walking distance to their homes and the only place their children have an opportunity to use a swing set. The surrounding neighborhoods are full of young families, many whom bring their babies to experience the joy of their very first time to the playground swing set.
Please support this petition and let us show Mokena Park District that we want swing sets for all ages, including babies, brought back to our park.

I love just up the street from the park & was disappointed when I read this. I was waiting for the new park to open to take my infant granddaughter to swing on the swings.

Not acceptable! The sign at the park says ages 5-12 - what about the toddlers? Not happy about this!
The number one reason children love to go to the park is so that they can swing, Swinging motivates them to go outside and play and that's something children want and need and I know this from so many children. No swings they won't have a reason to go instead they will stay home or sit outside doing what? Playing on lab tops, or cell phones, because what would cause them to go to the park and play outside is gone. Even doctors, medically have proven that cell phones, computers, laptops, all affect the brain of a child. Please keep the swings there, to motivate the children to play outside at the parks ! Thank You
Agree they need swings, how do you replace a park that had swings with equipment that now doesn't have swings. Don't get me wrong I'm happy for the new equipment but add some swings

Please bring back the swings!! It is very sad that the toddlers were left out. They need a place to play and socialize too and the local park is the perfect place. Consider adding equipment for them in addition to the swings .
