When you think of Super Smash Bros. as a series in a whole, a game that defined its roots was Super Smash Bros. Melee. Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Nintendo GameCube console was a game that brought together generations of gamers by uniting Nintendo's most successful AND unknown franchises that people were able to play and enjoy in a game that really does prove the infamous, "Who Would Win in a Fight?" question. Melee had your classic Mario, Link, and Donkey Kong, but also their not so well known characters from other franchises, such as Marth from Fire Emblem, at the time being irrelevant, and the Ice Climbers from Nintendo's NES game. Melee was an incredible game, and still is, with thousands of gamers still playing to this day, most of them being competitive.

The competitive community started as an underground and generally unknown scene, but then growing gradually as MLG picked it up as a game to play competitively. Professional smashers rose to the top rankings, and people fantasize about getting there. The demand for Melee was and still is present, with fans and competitors alike wanting this game. Unfortunately, Melee isn't accessible to fans through reasonable means, and there are a few reasons, being the following:

• Melee is no longer being manufactured in physical copies, resorting in gamers to scalp on the internet for overpriced copies being well over the retailed price of $38.99
• If you want to play Melee, even if you have it, you would have to

a) Buy a GameCube and GameCube Memory card (in order to save game data), or

b) Play on a Wii, but purchase also Gamecube memory card

However, even though you can play Melee on the computer via Emulation, a majority of people do not have access to a gaming computer or materials to make a computer able to handle Melee. There is an online function with emulation, but you need access to the following, and more:

• High-speed processor
• Recommended 4 GB of RAM
• Strong DSL or Broadband Internet
• And more

For casual players, this build would be unnecessary due to some of these requirements being needed for its online functionality. Competitive and casual players alike may not be able to obtain some of these things to play Melee, like the physical copy, a GameCube console, or a gaming computer. For those who couldn't afford this pricey path, another option needs to arise...

This is where you come in!!

This petition is an attempt to persuade and pursue the act of bringing Melee to a more modern, easy method of acquisition. An easy way to do this is bringing Melee to the WiiU virtual console, on the eShop. Nintendo would have to port this game, of course, but the only thing they can gain from this, is profit. We can show them the current demand still lingering in the Smash Bros. community with this petition! With this petition, we can attempt to bring this glorious game to the hands of both long time players of the game and modern gamers that wouldn't be able to access it otherwise!
