We, the signed First Years of Bachelor of Engineering (with Honours) and Bachelor of Food Technology (with Honours), undergraduates at Massey University, hereby respectfully petition the loss of Dr. Richard Brown as our Engineering Mathematics lecturer.

We implore the School of Engineering & Technology (SEAT) and Institute of Fundamental Sciences (IFS) in earnest to reinstate the aforementioned professor to continue educating our year group.

The following reasons have been cited as to why this course of action should be enforced:

• clear understanding speed of which students are assimilating information
• excellent level of cohesion between Mathematics tutors and lecturer

It is our wish for this to be executed as soon as possible, but comprehend the limitations of such a request in terms of:

• respective departments having few available Mathematicians/teaching staff
• the plethora of components that contribute to teaching schedules and that these timetables prepared prior to commencement of semesters
• time-frame of appeal being made with the corresponding consequences and complications that could ensue – during semester, which may disadvantage and hinder current personnel

No reservations will be held with the decline of said forwarded motion and it is acknowledged there is no guarantee of approval or any changes to occur.

It is noted that Dr. Richard Brown had no active [advocative] affiliation or endorsement to the petition being devised, formulated or produced. This endeavour was solely undertaken by the students; therefore the pupils are fully responsible for the document and the defence of its contents.
