Last week, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Richmond, VA's local daily paper, changed its comics line-up, which included removing "Pearls Before Swine" by Stephan Pastis, in a move that only further seems to dig the paper's grave. As newspapers across the country continue to see declining readership, this latest move alienates the paper's younger readers as strips like "Mark Trail," "Rex Morgan MD" and "Judge Parker" take the place of more current comics. My own son, who has been reading the paper for six years, hasn't touched the paper since his beloved comics were taken out. As my friend and fellow Pearls lover recently said, "How can I get my kids interested in reading and keeping up with the news on a daily basis, if I can't start with the comics?" Help us convince the RTD's editors to bring back one of the funniest and brightest parts of the daily paper by signing our petition.
