Why would you fire a teacher for saving a student by taking them to the ER not sleeping with them??? Then have the nerve to fire her because she cares? I would rather kids have a teacher that cares than one that doesn't. Doesn't make any sense to me

This teacher needs to have her job back. If my kids was really sick I would want her to take them to be checked out.

I am a parent of high school and elementary students. It is good to see a teacher care about her students that much. That is rare in today's school. This student was 20 years old and pregnant, she was helping her and should be commended. A rule should be stated that after the legal age of 18 the school is not liable if a student chooses to ride with a teacher in their vehicle. Especially with a parent's permission, this should leave no liability to the school. She deserves an award, not fired with public ridicule.

Miss Mitts did something exemplary and beyond what many adults with do! She should be commended and honored for caring about her students and seeing that they got the medical care they needed. Red Bank High School need more teachers just lijke her. What a travesty!

I APPLAUD LESLIE SWAFFORD MITTS. There is a disturbing trend in America today. It is called "Litigation". People looking for a quick buck from the system has caused our Puclic school system to adopt hardline black and white rules and regulations to protect the institution at the cost of common sence. As a byproduct of this archaic standard our students hace to wald a tightrope though school. It is bad enough they have to fear bullies not from other students but the school itself. If a teacher is to act in a humane caring manner, they are diciplined and the students suffer.

What Miss Mitts did is truly commendable. She cares for her students unlike the school leadership which is more worried about legal liability than the well being of the students. Principal Robertson should be the one resigning. I would give anything to have teachers like her in my school!
