So, we talk about teacher accountability and then fire them when they actually listen! Shame on Red Bank! Ms. Mitts should be contacting her teacher's union representative for legal advice.

We need MORE teachers like this, not less! The fact that beuracratic administrators seem to have no carrying and compassion for the realities of the students in their care is a travesty. That they would punish a teacher for caring for the "whole child" is ignorant at best, and malicious at worst. Someone does need to be fired (or forced to resign) that person is not Miss Mitts.

Would Principall Robertson have preferred that this ill student not receive medical treatment, especially since she couldn't pay. Pneumonia can be fatal, and Mitts did the right thing.

This a rare and special person and a teacher who must be commended for actually caring about her students. Not only does she teache them facts from books, she demonstrates a a better way to live.

The teacher should not have been forced to resign that school needs to reevaluate, their policies

Shameful that student & teacher policies in schools today are out of control! Zero tolerance= zero common sense applied by admins. Further Ridiculous when there's a lot of non dedicated educators out there. Or even the disturbing epidemic of middle aged female teachers sleeping with teen male students! Yet here's one of the good ones, that helps kids beyond the classroom, out of the kindness of her heart & wallet, & it's a fireable offense!? Really??! The principal should lose HIS job over this wrongful termination! Good luck (:

Please prove you people are not Southern Redneck Hillbillies by doing the right thing for this teacher. Rehire her and consider bringing charges against the parents for child abuse!

You need to re-hire this teacher and have her give you a class on EMPATHY 101. You are now in the eye of a storm - the American people are sick of administrator's harassment of basic teacher empathy for their students.

What kind of crazy reason is this to fire a teacher? She should get a medal and a raise!
