I am at a total loss as to why this teacher should be fired. The principal needs to go, not the teacher. As a Registered Nurse and a mother I can only hope that if my children were in need of medical attention there would be someone like Ms. Mitts to help. Stories like this only re-affirm for me why I will never live or work in a country without public healthcare.

I really hope she dies not go back to that lame school with a totally stupid principal, that she gets the better job she deserves, but the school will be what is hurt by this, no matter what.

Bring Ms. Mitts back!! Ms. Mitts is a teacher worth her weight in gold!! There's certainly something wrong with a school doing what they did to Ms. Mitts when she has been such a shining example of compassion for her fellow human beings. What a wonderful woman to have involved in any childs life in any capacity!!

If he is more concerned about the school's liability and fucking paper clips over the children's health / life, then Principal Justin Roberts must go.

The State of TN has a "Good Samaritan Law" TCA 63-6-218 which should remove any liability for someone that is trying to reneder aid in the event of a medical emergency. The school board's argument about liability is removed by this State law. Rule #1 NEVER voluntarily resign from a job, because you may lose some of your legal rights in doing so. If I were Miss Mitts, I would try to get a new job with a private school that has someone at the helm with better judgement and reasoning than the doofus in charge of this school and the twits in charge.

This teacher put a student's welfare first. To me, that would be a reason to give her a raise, not to fire her.
I do not agree with anybody firing anybody because the teacher decided to pay out of her own pocket for a child who did not have medical insurance. I'm a mother of three kids biologically one child step into foster I cannot afford medical insurance on myself much less my children. The teacher did a great thing things that parents which teachers would do more often but they cannot afford to because of teachers pay, this teacher put herself into more debt to pay a child health visits for pneumonia. To watch ever teacher principal school staff things that she was wrong for doing what she did, you are wrong for not helping her and helping her keep her job!
