While most major communities in Newfoundland and Labrador have access to Level-1 Adult Basic Education (ABE) programs, Corner Brook, Bay or Islands, and most of the Humber Valley areas, known as the Corner Brook Area, don't have any in spite a big demand for it.

Level-1 ABE need is in big demand throughout this area; however, the Newfoundland and Labrador "Department of Advanced Education, Skills, and Labour" always use every excuse possible not to have this essential adult upgrading program available in the Corner Brook area.

The result is that many Corner Brook area residents, including those with developmental, intellectual, and learning disabilities whom want to better themselves for their future, as well as those whom want to upgrade their skills, will not have a chance to do so.

That takes away their fundamental right, a right to an Education, hurting their chance at a better life.

Because Education is not a privilege, its a right, Corner Brook area residents MUST fight to bring Level-1 ABE here, not just in Deer Lake and Stephenville.

If you want to e-mail the Newfoundland and Labrador "Department of Advanced Education, Skills, and Labour", their e-mail address is AESL@gov.nl.ca
