Legendary Japanese rock band, L'Arc~en~Ciel, is set to kick off their World Tour this coming March 2012. This tour is a significant step in their 20-year career and will include dates in Europe, as well as one date in the U.S. However, the only date currently scheduled for the tour is on the East Coast (in New York, more specifically). We think it's amazing that L'Arc~en~Ciel has decided to include a date in the United States for this epic tour. However, for many fans living on the West Coast, or in neighboring countries such as Mexico, it is simply not feasible to fly clear across the United States to New York.

To put this into perspective, here's a little simple geography. There will be a date in London, as well as in Paris for the upcoming world tour. The distance between London and Paris is roughly 213 miles (343 km). The distance from California to New York, by comparison, is roughly 2,413 miles (4,690 km). So while many of you may be thinking, "Well, at least they're going to the United States," just think that the distance from one coast of the United States to the other is more than twice the distance from Paris to London. Yes, we are grateful that L'Arc~en~Ciel has decided to include the United States. But for those of us living on the West Coast or in Mexico for that matter, for those of us that are unable to save money to fly 2,413 miles to New York, the news of this tour is disheartening, to say the least.

In short, the goal of this petition is not to persuade L'Arc~en~Ciel to add a show on the West Coast (although it would be nice if they could). The tour is essentially set, so the odds of adding another show are highly unlikely. However, we need to let our voices be heard and let them know that we're here, so that maybe next time around, they'll consider coming to the West Coast of the United States. We respectfully request their presence here on the West Coast sometime in the very near future. We want to experience the joy and excitement of seeing this band we have loved for so long, live.
