Do whats in the best interest of the animal. Stop with the power play. Political bull crap. He offered to pay for the dog, and pay for replacement. These animals are not cheap. Your a frigin moron. You could be sayin your town money. But due to your lack of brain power you would rather use your idiot political power. Typical politician.

Let the officer keep the dog. It’s about the dogs feelings not the police departments. He is willing to replace the dog so it should becanobrainer unless your headless and don’t care about the dog.

Please consider the bond that has forged with Steve Patterson and K9 Poseidon and recognize the negatives to a police K9 having to undo that relationship with emotions such a dog in that 24/7 relationship built will have to suffer...along with a similar bond not always as possible with another handler. Let alone the bond with extended family approved to be part of the dog's family pack. There would be no financial loss of "property"(a dog is a being many others have come to recognize) with Patterson's determined offer and it would be in the best interest of the village and department if a new handler is selected to then be paired with a dog tested to be a fit for him/her. Politics aside...emotions aside ~ this is why some agencies are moving toward a handler owned dog contracted to the agency work. Do the right thing for the dog considering the specific relationship and training markers he has been ingrained with and do right for everyone else; you will then be a good model as others have chosen to be in taking the high road. This time people are watching.

Please let Poseidon stay with the only family he has known. If the family is willing to pay the full price why not Poseidon stay with his family that clearly loves him!

Absolutely no excuse to have taken him from his family, even if looked at as a piece of police property he offered to reimburse . Though shooting a police dog is same as shooting an officer right? So he is an officer not property? I say let him choose ! I bet he chooses home ❤️

There is zero reasons if the city is being fully reimbursed and there is a solution for the city to get another dog cost free to the city for this man and his dog not be able to stay together. Simply do the right thing.
