This would allow children and teens, even adults the ability to have something fun and positive in their life. For the kids it will allow them to enjoy a fun place to go and keep them from getting involved in the wrong things. I think this is a great thing for Santa Monica, I would be there every day! We already know how popular the temporary icecon 5th and arizona is every year, now just think what this would do for the city and the revenue it would bring. Plus add the metro line, that brings even more revenue because people from all over can come and enjoy! Please make this happen!

Welcome ice skating and soccer, lacrosse and active sports enthusiasts throughout Southern California. Since the demise of our beloved Culver City Ice Arena in February 2014 we have been at a loss for precious ice time. Skaters of all disciplines have been forced to travel far and wide to pursue the skating passion they love with great difficulty. Here exists a great opportunity in the history of Southern California. The City of Santa Monica has charged the community and 9 members of a Working Group to help decide the future of the ten-acre parcel of land that includes the Historic Santa Monica Civic Auditorium as well as a very large parcel of parking lot. For a decade the City made plans to increase the open space sports field allotment to answer the tremendous call for soccer fields in Santa Monica. To this point no viable plan has come to pass. We believe that a combination of efforts from the ice skating community as well as the soccer, lacrosse and other sport field use enthusiasts will bring about the building of a multi-use facility that includes a multi-ice sheet building along with a state-of-the-art sports field on the roof. We hope to gain enough support that multiple parties will come together in spreading the risk in such a tremendous venture and build the structure of all our collective dreams. We believe the combination of environmentally-friendly technology, efficient new transportation options including the new Metro Line extension into Santa Monica, the promise of a revitalized Santa Monica Civic Auditorium to its former glory will spark the imagination of a new generation as well as their predecessors in making this venture a reality. Will you help spread the word and bring new vitality to Santa Monica, Greater Los Angeles and all of Southern California to fill the active entertainment needs of generations to come? Please sign and spread the word.
