In the long standing tradition of the Catholic Church we are being kept in the dark as to happenings in our parish. We don’t need the dioceses paternalism. We as parishners deserve to know the situation concerning our beloved leader. I will not attend mass nor will I donate a cent to the Bishop until an proper and complete explaination is made.

Fr. Joe is an integral part of Blessed Sacrament CC. We haven't been the same without him. It's like the grinch stole our Christmass. Return him to us, his family in Christ.

It has been years since Father Joe has become my pastor (i.e. since I moved to this parish) and I have never had anything negative to say about him. I find his weekly "advice" very enriching and very useful to help me find my way.

Even though I am not a member of Blessed Sacrament, I know well the many things Father Joe has done that serve our community and reflect so favorably on his parish. He must be returned to his position that so badly needs him.

As a Catholic Christian I find this hypocritical I personally reached out to the Bishop the moment it happened. Father Joe has done nothing but great things for the church our Parish and Community. We need his spiritual guidance and leadership.

Hi I’m not sure where this petition goes but maybe my message can be added to something. Thank you to whoever set this up!!
This is a political and baseless witch hunt that has claimed the reputation and position of an innocent and beloved member of Hampton Roads. I have attended this church for many years and was horrified to hear this news. My mother, a devout Christian for more than 50 years, contemplated leaving the Catholic faith because of how the diocese grossly mishandled the situation. She loves Father Joe, as do I, and not only because of how wonderful his sermons are but because we know him due to our work in the church. We have seen how caring, authentic and specifically how he goes above and beyond with the children to bring them into the church and keep them connected to the faith through special ceremonisies or simple little gifts for them to use in prayer. He is a congenial light to all who know him as the priest of Blessed Sacrament or simply as Joe. He is deserving of a massive apology and compensation as well as his position back. I am looking forward to hearing how he spins this time of unjust leave into a beautiful story about how god works in mysterious ways once he comes back.

Fr. Joe is a good man, great priest He has brought Bless Sacrament growth of the faithful congregation, added to the building, and serves this community. I feel his suspension is unjust and an extreme punishment for his alleged offense. This punishment would be suitable if he were charged of sexual misconduct, but he was NOT.

Father Joe is a terrific Catholic priest and has been a blessing to our parish. His love of the parishioners and his work is very evident in all the things he does for the parish and for the community. He has had a major impact on the Norfolk community and his evangelizing has helped our Parish grow. I think the Catholic Church cannot afford to lose a priest of his quality; and, the Bishop should reinstate him as soon as possible. He should not be a scapegoat for the past sins of wayward priests and bishops who have practically destroyed the Catholic Church. Father Joe is liked by both Catholics and non-Catholics, and many cannot understand why he has been treated so poorly by the Diocese and his good named destroyed by an incompetent public relations effort. The Bishop should do the right and moral thing, and return Father Joe to an active status as our Pastor, and to do anything else, will not enhance the reputation of the Richmond Diocese or the Catholic Church, and will only serve to alienate more Catholics. The last thing we need is more "former Catholics."

My family and I have known Joe since his days in Roanoke. He is a wonderful person and priest. Though I don't live in Norfolk, I have attended Blessed Sacred with my family for years. Joe has done an outstanding and inspiring job in the community. I always look forward to attending Mass with him. I know that I will clearly hear the God with sincerity and a touch of humor. I pray he will be back at Blessed Sacrament soon.
