Keep the faith stronger people. Do not forget that you go to church because of God. having an awesome priest is just a bonus. This should be the time where we should hold hands and stand strong. Be positive. This too shall pass. I am thankful for the other priests invited & are helping out the parish. Let's do our best to be there for Fr. Joe & God will do the rest. AMEN.

I am very disappointed by the way that the bishop’s office has handled this situation. Father Joe has worked for decades to build a strong reputation in this community. He has been a good and faithful servant. Perhaps we should act with forgiveness (which is what we are taught in the Catholic faith). All of us make mistakes. Something to think about.

Fr. Metzger has always been supportive of the Bishop Sullivan CHS community. Our students admire and miss him, as do I

I’ve known Father Joe for many years. Though I only see him once a year(at best)...His love for the Church and his Parishioners has been very high and consistent. Personally, I want to see the Leadership in the Church back Father Joe and not question his character any longer. What can I do to help him?

It is sad to read in the Comments that people have stopped going to mass and thereby are not receiving the sacraments due to Fr. Joe's absence. We must make a distinction between the institutional church and the reception of the sacraments which are of divine origin. Satan rejoices when people leave the Church. Do not misunderstand me. I consider Richmond's handling of Father Joe's situation to be appalling. I also know that he is being subject to a "severe" investigation going back many years. I have known him since the 1990s. At times he has acted on impulse but with the best intentions. His outreach to youth has been a hallmark of his ministry. Don't give up. Let's work together to defend this holy, loving, and giving priest.
