I'm a high school math teacher is 10 years of experience and formerly a mechanical engineer. Without a doubt data science is more important for most people than nearly all other math topics

High school math is outdated. Most people will go on with the rest of their lives without ever using calculus or Trigonometry in their jobs. Why not start teaching something more relevant such as statistics and data?
