Im going to voice my opinion on this matter some may not like it but that is ok. As a former Hudsonville 4h parent I know the process in witch weigh in takes place. For the fair board to do what was done is completely wrong. Why is Darin the only person being banned when every club has a leader present at the scale? Why are these "leaders" not being held accountable for so called false weights? And how can the fair board prove that an animal did not walk over the scale at the minimum weight required? I know if I had to get 75-100 pounds on a steer to make the weight it would happen in a matter of 3 min. There is no rules implied to enforce this. Also there is the fact you are taking an animal away from its home and putting it in a high stress situation resulting in the animal not drinking or eating thus loosing weight. Ive had animals loose 50 pounds on a trailer ride to a show. So for someone that thought it was a good idea to take someone else's animal back over the scale without even letting them know is wrong in so many ways. So lets putt this all in to prospective. The animals were weighed at weigh in and made weight, after being in a high stress environment for over 24 hrs ( not eating, drinking) were re weighed in the middle of the night and you people think this is ok? Sounds like you need to do get an education on animals. And to single someone out of this whole situation and say they are banned from the fair over it? I think this is completely out of line and some re thinking needs to be in order! Darin is not the one to blame here.

Ban a parent for a volunteer position and a decision made by others as well to do what's best for kids? This is the problem with County fairs. Someone needs to think about the kids and get off their high horse.
