You need someone who loves animals and will do the right humane things for them. There should be surprise spot checks all the time unannounced to make sure things are in order.

At one time, this shelter had a good reputation. Now? This is not an easy job.....an experienced and compassionate person is needed. Darcy is that person.

I have rescued from both AHS and the Elizabeth shelter and have alway found Darcy Del Castillo to be professional as well as compassionate, organized and reliable. I would love to see her back at AHS. She was a pleasure to work with.

Darcy has the experience and the will to do right by the animals in an efficient and ethically and fiscally responsible manner. The AHS Board would do themselves and the community an enormous service by hiring Darcy into this position.

This shelter is in sad shape. People working there don’t care and something has to be done ASAP. As of right now this shelter should be closed and all involved should be prosecuted.

Hello Board of Directors,
I've been a member of Union County Lost Pets, which is affiliated with Elizabeth Animal Shelter, for quite a while now. Darcy Del Castillo has been instrumental in the reunification of lost animals with their heartbroken owners and monumental in adopting out animals who are strays and/or owner surrenders.
She has demonstrated to us here at Union County Lost Pets and Elizabeth Shelter Helpers and truly anyone who comes in contact with her, her genuine concern for ALL of the animals, but most of all, her devoted and compassionate heart.
This position was made specifically for her, because she has passion for these unfortunate souls who, for whatever reason, were given up on by everyone else.
We all know the stories about AHS-Newark and think it's high time for BIG change. Darcy Del Castillo will be the change we all want to see.
