I just find it so hard to believe that what coach Grant did warranted a banned! The board at south orange, especially this season have been very inconsistent, for example the whole kids moving up from minors to major and let's not forget the combining of the girls team cause some girls had to be moved down. You had two coaches almost come to blows in a game and now there decision to banned a coach for going back and forth about league short comings with the president.

Glad you decided to do this, truly shows you care. I hope you coach again, I know the whole watching your son play is important but I know being on that field being a leader to those kids are even more important to you. THE league should be thanking you.

The league had such a problem with this coach, why did they allow him to coach for so long? Why was he never issued a documented warning or suspension? Worst part is he wasn't given a platform to speak on his behalf. Thanks for your time given to the league and it was such a treat to see how u made those kids better.. misunderstood but loved by many.

I hope you can get yourself back to the league, don't give up, I'm sure that's what they want, whatever league u decided to go to will be very lucky, whomever this petition is going to I hope you truly look into this matter and make the correct decision.

I guess all of the league issues with Grant behavior through the years wasn't that bad if he lasted this long. The moment he challenges the president now we begin to reflect on his past issues. I for sure would like to see if any of the issues were documented and was he actually aware of the issues at hand. Theres got to be a process as far as penalties, can't just leave it for a vote cause of course like all things everyone just goes with the flow. So if one says let's kick him out more likely they all will.

The league wont be the same and his kid will be fully affected, I'm all for laying down the law and holding people accountable but I also believe in being fair and this is far from it... coach Grant very vocal but always gave 110% to those kids wasn't and even took on another let alone all the other stuff he's done for this league. WHO HOLDS THE LEAGUE RESPONSIBLE?

The decision the board made wasn't about what's best for the league but what was best for them personally! U banned a coach for speaking his mind or was it for arguing a call? My other question is why was his case revisited if a banned was handed down?? The league gave him the worst penalty but decided to revote on whether he can see his son play... I hope theres away he back on that field with those kids .

As I read this petition what stands out to me is the fact coach Grant wasn't given the opportunity to speak on his behalf, maybe he would have apologized for his role in the situation and you guys could have come up with something like maybe make him umpire games or work the leagues concession as a penalty, since he was never suspended all his years there at south orange... your fully support coach Grant and it really does seem like you rubbed the board members the wrong way and they never told you, I hope they reconsider and at least let you see your son play. I know for sure I wouldn't have been at south orange this long if it wasnt for him coaching, this league runs through president like nobody business.

Does the parents that pay money to keep this league a float have any say?, there was a town meeting Led by one of the board members and the first topic to come up is the way they handle coach Grant situation, especially after witnessing a board member/coach curse in front of kids and that same board member continues to urge during games. If the decision wasnt personal I dont know what to call it. Oh and let's not forget one of the board members actually agreeing with the fact the penalty was harsh. I wonder who holds the president accountable, cause coach Grant wasnt arguing alone.

Coach Grant coached my son Jonathan Lugo last season. I like the way he coached and motivates the kids to play hard and win. It would be a shame if he was let go.

We teach our kids to own their successes as well as their mistakes and do everything they can to correct the mistakes and/or learn from them. Well, it is time for the league to correct this mistake. Coach Grant is an asset to this league and what a waste of passion and knowledge it will be if he is not given another chance.

The league made a mistake in how they handle this case, I witnessed what went down and yes maybe the time and place for a debate was wrong but I didnt see anything wrong other then that. If the league was using coach Grant as an example, point taken but the crime didnt match the penalty. It's sad to see how a league pretty much turned there back on someone that gave the league a lot of his free time. My suggestion have a meeting regarding warnings and penalties that way doesn't seem personal...

Grant is the reason Tanner has played this long. Every season he has asked to be with coach Grant. He will continue to play but I know he misses Grant and his friend Eathan. I would like to know what the rule book says about not giving warnings and or suspension before be kick out of the league. I am very disappointed in our league that is not WILLING to give second chances.

The first times we met Coach Grant was last season as an umpire , he was very proffesional and knowledgeable at every game .This season we had him as Coach for our daughter’s junior softball team, even though he doesn’t have a daughter himself, he was willing to give his time because of his true love of the game. Coach Grant is very passionate and only wants to bring the best in each player. My daughter respects him and took all of his advise very serious. Unfortunately we didnt have enough players due to the whole age fiasco, so we knew that the junior teams would have to merge. We love Coach Melissa , Coach Gabriel and Coach Wally ,and we just thought that when the merge happened Coach Grant was going to work as an assistant Coach along them. Not letting him watch his son play is a really drastic consequence, As a parent that would crush me. No one ever asked us parents our opinions about him. At least not me. So I hope you take that in to consideration. Thanks

Grant has been my sons coach for several seasons and this season had become my daughters coach. We love him, he is an amazing coach. He has so much passion for the game and really wants his kids to succeed. He pushes them to do their best all the time.
Yes, there have been some incidents where coach has been outspoken about situation, but he has always refrained from cursing in from of the kids and has handle these situations with a lot more control then I have seen other coaches. So he gets loud.... if anything coach just needs to manage his passion for the game and his big personality a little better.
I don't think it is fair that he has been completely removed from the league with no previous write ups, suspensions, warnings, etc. I have personally witness a few incidents where worse happened and the participants of those situations got off with basically a hand slap. This seems like more of a personal issue against Grant and that is cool.
Grant is one of the best coaches Ive seen out there and if nothing more he should be aloud to be a dad and watch his son play. The league preached "its all about the kids" but this is effecting Grants son Ethan and that is NOT ok.

My husband has managed a team with coach Grant in the past. He is dedicated to his team and wants only the best for the kids. If there was no warning then he should be allowed back on the field. What i have noticed about the league is, if you speak your mind then they label you as a problematic person. Let him back on the field.

Great coach, feel the league made a mistake letting him go, let alone not allow him to watch his son play. I've seen worse at S.O and nothing was done.

I think it is absurd anyone felt the need to ban him from the fields. He is an awesome coach who goes above and beyond for all of these kids. Being suspended is one thing like the others that were suspended but being ban is overboard. There are others that have said uch worse and they either got nothing or a suspension and that is all.
