Many other towns and cities in DuPage County allow for keeping a few chickens in a backyard (including Downers Grove). I am honestly stunned by how many of you have joined this effort to bring chickens to our backyards. This momentum belongs entirely to you because I am just the person who typed this up while hoping for the best.

In 2012 the ordinance called for permission from the chief of police to have chickens as I had them from 2012 -2014 with a visit from the town inspector who didn’t know the town ordinance
Looking to move out of our condo and I would love to stay in Woodridge but considering Downers Grove cause I would be able to have chickens.
Chicken coops not only bring delicious and sustainable eggs to neighborhoods, but they bring richness to the community. Neighbors get to know each other better and their children learn so much!!!
If dogs and cats are allowed as well as parrots, why not chickens? They are no different, less noisy and reward us with eggs?
The tax paying residents of Woodridge should be able to choose individually whether they want a few chickens with all the benefits or not.
I'd like some chickens in my backyard in Woodridge.
Would love to have a few chickens..why can't we? Local villages next to us can....it would be fabulous!! Thank you!!

They are no bother. They help the environment by eating bad bugs, fertilizing the yard, prevent weeds and provide food for the families raising them. All of Woodridge should be able to have well cared for, healthy chickens if they choose!
