As I write this a brand new grandma, Tamara Harris is sitting in a NICU room with her very first grandbaby. As she feeds her and prays for her health and safety, she is also praying that the decision CPS has made to put Chelsae into foster care is just a very bad dream.
Tamara Harris has been fighting to gain custody of her granddaughter Chelsae. She has been doing her very best to provide a loving and caring life for her children and elderly aunt.
Due to the decisions and wrong doings of others in the past Tamara is paying the very heavy price of the very real possibly losing her very first granddaughter to CPS. Her daughter, the baby's mother has made some very bad decisions despite Tamara and other family members efforts to help her before and during her pregnancy.
Tamara has been at the hospital every single day while her grandbaby is in NICU. She shows up multiple times a day never knowing if it will be her last. Sadly grandparents do not have a lot of rights in these cases and the hospital doesn't have to notify Tamara once they release the baby into CPS custody.
As of right now we are trying our best to get letters of references/character and this petition signed to show CPS and the judge that Tamara is a fit parent.
This decision hasn't just effected Tamara but the whole family and grouping of close friends.
Please help us fight this decision! Please help us being Chelsae home!

Reaching this level of public attention shows how deeply people care about keeping this family together. It is humbling to see such a strong response to Tamara's struggle for her granddaughter. This support gives us a firm foundation as we prepare to show the court that love should be the deciding factor in Chelsae's future.

I have only known Tamara for 2 years as my neighbor, but in that time she's also become a friend. Our children play together daily and as picky as I am with who can watch my children, have no problems with babysitting. She's a good mom, with a ton of patience and good morals. I have seen how much she loves all of her children and the possibility of not being in baby Chelsae life is unimaginable. Please allow Chelsae to be with her family.
I truly believe that Tamara Harris should have custody of her granddaughter. Chelsae deserves to be with family instead of strangers. She is a wonderful mother and person. So much so we have in-trusted her with the care of my elderly sister.
Children is always be kept with their families. The foster care system doesn't work!
Grandparents Have Rights!!
Chelsae is now two months old and has now been in foster care for the last month and half. It is breaking my heart and that of my younger children who want their niece home with them. As I am only allowed one, one hour supervised visit per week if I'm lucky, this has continued to be a very trying time for our family. Everyone in our family and many friends would love to be a part of her life and get to bond and welcome her into the family. Sadly even my own Sister has yet to hold her first Great-Niece. I continue to covet the prayers for her to come home. Many have taken the time to write letters and sign this petition. I ask you to please continue to pray. We've done nothing wrong not to welcome Chelsae into our home but I have to prove my innocence and I'm not considered innocent till proven guilty, but just the opposite. Sadly this is a numbers issue and we have to wait our turn to get approved. We have another home inspection Wednesday June 10-2015 at 2pm. Pray please that this one meets all of the CPS safety requirements and will get us one step closer to bringing my Granddaughter Chelsae home. Thank you. Tamara
I have had the pleasure to watch Tamara Harris interact with her children over a period of time. In both fields of law enforcement and teaching, observation skills are a critical part of the job, as so is knowing a little something about children, and families. Having done both, I am well versed in observing and do have some knowledge about children and families. Tamara interacts with the children appropriately and lovingly. She is nurturing and attentive to their needs. She sets boundaries and what I have observed is appropriate with disciplining them; NEVER hitting or yelling at them. She offers guidance and redirects. I observe the children hugging her willfully and spontaneously. While her home might be small, it is clean, warm, inviting, comfortable and safe. What lucky children they are to have such a loving mother with such a huge yard to play in; to run, jump and let their imagination go wild! In my opinion, to separate this infant from this family would be a gross disservice to not only this family, but to the infant as well. Chelsea needs to grow up with her family where she belongs. She will be well cared for, all her needs will be met and most importantly, she will be very much Loved.
I have known Tamara for several years now. She is a strong woman who is devoted to her children and will show that same devotion and love to her grand daughter Chelsea. Chelsea's family is waiting with open arms for her to come home.

I am Tamara Harris's oldest daughter. my mom has been the greatest example of love to myself and my younger siblings. She loves Chelsea and is more than capable of providing a safe, loving home for Chelsae!
