The city council officially approved the site plan for the new BMX track this morning. I am currently meeting with the planning department to finalize the site layout and the construction timeline. We will monitor the site preparation progress to ensure the project remains on schedule.

In choosing to bringing BMX to our community we are choosing to bring in a positive activity for people of all ages. You heard that right, anyone who wants to ride is welcome. No one sits the bench, it is an individual sport that can involve the entire family! You can be as involved in the sport as you would like. In bringing the track to Farmington we would be giving our children in the four corners an opportunity to race and practice more often. The more you race the more points you can accumulate. This has been difficult for the children here in Farmington and the surrounding areas to do with the closest track in New Mexico being in Albuquerque. Durango, CO and Cortez, Co have been doing so much with their tracks and involving our community it has brought our love and need for a track back here in Farmington. Our children and adults want to be at the top of their game during races and not having an area to race and practice for them in their community makes this especially difficult. Please sign and share with everyone you know to help us bring this Olympic Sport to our community. We have a great BMX community here in Farmington, NM ready to volunteer their time and energy into making this track great! We are not asking for or accepting donations at this time! Thank you for all your support in signing and letting others know!

The growth of this movement has caught the attention of local planning officials who requested a formal meeting to discuss potential sites. I am currently preparing the project proposal and site usage brief to present during that session.

My home track is Albuquerque, and we regularly travel to Cortez, Durango, tracks in AZ and tracks in northern Colorado. If Farmington had a track we would race there, too! We also regularly visit Wild Chile BMX in Las Cruces and the two tracks in El Paso. While to the south and east of Albuquerque, those tracks are a similar distance away. Farmington needs a track!

Our three kids raced Bmx in Aztec, NM. Our youngest still races. Unfortunately we have to travel to Durango, Cortez and when we can, to Albuquerque. Our youngest child has a lot of friends that would love to race as well, but can't make the trips to the above mentioned tracks. It is a great family event. Wonderful friendships have been made over the years. PLEASE bring BMX to Farmington, NM!!!

BMX needs to make a comeback soon! Its a great time and one hell of a workout! Plus its a good release for anyone with a lil frustration or just need some time to not think about everything, and it'll make more people sociable again.

My son raced BMX in his early childhood, the local track was discontinued if you will. It left options for my son to choose in a not so positive lifestyle. He was really good at but to find a track within our budget, was unfeasible. I as a parent would really like to see more positive options for our youth to choose from. A BMX track in farmington nm would add just that. BMX is bigger now then it ever has been. So do the kids a favor and let build another track.
