Before Tottenham sold Gareth Bale to Real Madrid in 2014 for a world record transfer fee, the club embarked on a spending spree of their own.

Now the time could be ripe forSpursto put an opposite plan into effect in order to try to buy back the Welshman.

Bale is under pressure at Real Madrid, with Guillem Balague tellingSkySportshe is not working for the team as he should be. Spanish newspaperMarca report the Santiago Bernabeu crowd have lost patience with the forward, and made their feeling clear during the Champions League tie against Schalke this week.

Even if he were to leave at the end of this season, he could do so as a Champions League winner, still able to hold his head high, scoring in that final, and last year's Copa del Rey.

For Tottenham, buying him back would not be easy, yet it would also be difficult for Real to demand higher than the £86 million they paid for him. Spurs clearly could not afford to spend even £70 million on one player, but they could attempt to raise more than half.

Here are five players they could cash in on, to help seal the ultimate Tottenham fantasy summer transfer.

Erik Lamela

Tottenham had hoped Lamela would step into Bale's shoes and prove a cost effective replacement, even as their record signing. This simply hasn't happened. Interest would be high in Italy where he starred for Roma, while his recent family trip to Spain hinted this would be a destination he would be comfortable with. Spurs could at best aim to try to recoup £20 million.

Paulinho

A World Club Cup winner with Corinthians, Paulinho was at one stage in the summer of 2013, Tottenham's record signing. He is out of favour at present and it looks certain he will move on after the current season. It's unlikely he would move to another English club, and Spurs may have to settle for between £5-10 million at best for the Brazilian.

Roberto Soldado

Spanish striker Roberto Soldado was supposed to be the big solution for Tottenham's uninspiring attack, instead it has turned out to be academy prospect Harry Kane. The Spaniard looks low on confidence and in need of a fresh start, and a move back to his homeland is the most likely option. Spurs would have to take a big loss, but may still hope to get £10 million for the striker.

Etienne Capoue

French midfielder Etienne Capoue has had two inconsistent seasons at Spurs despite momentary promise, but he has been overtaken by academy breakthrough stars Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb. Tottenham may not be able to get a lot for him, but should aim to raise £5 million.

How much?

The sales of Lamela, Capoue, Paulinho and Soldado alone could fthe Spurs proven£40 millioncoulwithcanre conservative estimate £30 million to wipe off the price of buying back Gareth Bale add on top what,we are owed and it's a done deal

There would also be the wages of the four players, and with a little more injection of cash, bringing back the dazzling winger to White Hart Lane would suddenly seem very possible.

And what makes matters better he has even admitted he would welcome the return. Let make it a reality BRING BALE BACK BACK. Madrid may not love him but we certainly do #COYS
