Modern golf balls, while delivering increased durability, fail to give the golfer the confidence-inspiring soft feel and high-spin workability of the wound core balata covered golf balls that were popular until a little over a decade ago. Sign this petition to be part of a concerted effort to show ball manufacturers that we would like to see another pillowy soft and high spinning balata ball in one of their lineups next season.

I really did not think this many people still missed that perfect soft click off the club face like I do. It is honestly kind of wild to see all these names popping up when I mostly just made this because I was frustrated after a bad round at the local muni.

I played these back in the 80's and early 90's.the slazenger 100 balata was long off the tee,had 480 dimples,and was so soft around the greens it was like watching a butterfly land.and it hugged the green like ir had shoes.i miss that ball,it was the best i have ever played.even to this day.
What is missing in golf is the art of shot making. Balata, 3 piece wound compelled and brought that out.

please please please bring back the wound balata balls. They were the best part of playing golf.
Golf was ruined with metal “woods” and rock hard long-distance balls! Bring back my beloved balata balls and wooden headed clubs! And while you’re at it, make the 6,400 yard courses relevant again!
Love the ZBalata. I won the Mercedes Amateur with that ball.
The balata ball is the only way to save our classic golf courses. Plus, a player like Jack Niklaus, had much better shot making ability than today's long bomb hitters. I believe this is the only way to save the game for the average player. Tennis should do the same and bring back wood rackets and ban the two-handed shot, for the same reasons.

Still play only balata!! Have at least 30 dozen brand new boxes of Titleist tour balata,maxfli ht balata and the legendary Slazenger 420 balata! The alleged age related distance/performance drop is nowhere near as bad as what is generally documented. The feel,control and spin of a wound balata just can’t be beaten by any modern solid core multilayered urethane covered ball....it’s simple! Dreading the day my stock runs out. Great petition,unfortunately I would guess uneconomicaly viable for the manufacturers in today’s age.
