Worked in a lab myself and fell in love with my colleagues and some of them with me. I do not remember crying but it was all good humoured and he is not this bad person he is made out to be. It was a tongue in cheek remark. I would have been one these girls but I DO NOT SEE IT AS OFFENSIVE. Like this man and liked all my own male colleagues. Please stop bullying him. This is terrible.

unfortunately we live in a non perfect world where occasionally we all make silly mistakes. A good telling off and an apology should be enough in most cases. If our feelings are hurt so easily over something like this, God help us as a nation if we ever have to face anything serious.

Not only should the university reinstate him with full apology, the people who started the Twitter campaign should apologize for being overly critical and insensitive. Finding insult where it it is not intended indicates to me a sense of insecurity, indicating the need for a mirror and reflection rather than finger-pointing.

He has been treated very unfairly and scrutinized by the media harshly, people are forgetting his services. Individuals in other positions making similar remarks, have not dealt with similar consequences.

We should defend science from manginas and feminazis, its a shame to see one of the most brilliant minds of this century, affected by such insignificant persons, if any of the people who accuse him, had 1/3 of his intelligence, not even in 10 generations of their miserable families will any of them ever accomplish something close to what he did for all of us.
