While Tim Hunt's remarks are inappropriate, they are more a reflection of his own paltry social skills than an intentional desire to belittle women. His remarks are rather silly but I would think any man or woman could take him to task to disprove his contentions. He's entitled to think as he pleases so long as his opinions do not negatively impact his treatment of women. Let him learn about gender equally perhaps but fire him - that's extreme and unnecessary. What harm has he done anyone? His is not the purview of gender equality. Make it a required course for employees perhaps. Why the surprise that awkward stereotypical opinions lurk in the minds of the very brightest?
