Bring Back the tradition of Ice Cream Trucks to Mundelein!!!
Ice cream trucks have been a childhood tradition for many years in towns across the United States. Many children across the world hear the ever so addicting melody play and it can only mean one thing...ICE CREAM TRUCK! For years we were taught to NOT cross the street, wait for the truck and stay on the sidewalk until the truck stops. If you didn't make it outside in time your excitement was instantly turned to disappointment of not getting anything. Oh well, you learned from it for next time. As a kid they were unpredictable you just NEVER knew when it would roll down your street except when it was summer or a hot day you just knew to keep your ears open!
Ice cream truck drivers are just trying to earn a living as well. As a mom of 4 children myself I want to keep this tradition alive for them. Heck, for myself too, because I love myself some ice cream!
The benefit to bringing the ice cream trucks back to Mundelein is plain and simple business, entrepreneurship and summer jobs! Get the kids outside away from their electronics. Rewarding for everyone on a hot summers day. Tax incentive because we know this all boils down to money in the end. Take an ice cream truck to the park in the summer, imagine the taxes and money the city can make alone on one days worth of sales.
I am all for rules, regulations, permits but lets not make this unachievable or unrealistic to the vendor either. Children(s) safety is and always should be our number one priority but as a parent I have taught my children safety first also! Accident's happen, but let us not punish the many over the actions of one accident. Fears are educated into us, and can, if we wish, be educated out.
Will you join me in signing this petition to lift the ice cream truck ban in my town of Mundelein?
