The Union has confirmed the reinstatement of the Safety Bus service starting next semester. Our formal proposal successfully demonstrated the necessity of a low-cost transit option for student safety. We will continue to monitor the implementation phase to ensure the service remains reliable and accessible for all.

Final supporters
As we all know our Union has had to stop the Safety Bus, and in it's place made a deal with Street Car taxis, however the fare they charge is too high, and taxis cannot always be trusted.
Leicester isn't the safest place in the world, and students shouldn't have to contemplate walking home alone after a night out, particularly as freshers live in halls a good 40 minute walk away.
Many people are being forced to put themselves at risk after being unable to pay the increased fare or feel uncomfortable taking a taxi alone.
For those of you who weren't around to experience the safety bus, it was a minibus service run by the union, that charged a flat rate of £2 to anywhere, it ran from 6pm to 6am and waited outside the union untill it reached a full load.
Please sign this petition to bring back the safety bus before it's too late, it's a valuable service NOT a business.

The administration has acknowledged the surge in petition support and agreed to sit down for a formal meeting next week. I am currently preparing a briefing document that outlines the specific cost-benefit breakdown of the previous minibus service. We will present these findings to demonstrate that a return to the safety bus is a necessary measure for student welfare.

getting home from the library late at night is scary enough without worrying about the cost of a cab. bring the bus back.
the safety bus was the only reason i felt okay going to the union. fix this.
I dont feel safe walking back to the halls at 3am. really need this service back.
BRING IT BACK. tired of feeling paranoid walking home alone because taxis are too much money.
Why do they want to make money off our safety?? It was way better before they changed it

Total joke that the union thinks taxis are a replacement. £2 flat fee was actually affordable for us.
