Hi,
As we all know our Union has had to stop the Safety Bus, and in it's place made a deal with Street Car taxis, however the fare they charge is too high, and taxis cannot always be trusted.
Leicester isn't the safest place in the world, and students shouldn't have to contemplate walking home alone after a night out, particularly as freshers live in halls a good 40 minute walk away.
Many people are being forced to put themselves at risk after being unable to pay the increased fare or feel uncomfortable taking a taxi alone.
For those of you who weren't around to experience the safety bus, it was a minibus service run by the union, that charged a flat rate of £2 to anywhere, it ran from 6pm to 6am and waited outside the union untill it reached a full load.
Please sign this petition to bring back the safety bus before it's too late, it's a valuable service NOT a business.
