On the 7th of February 2017, Hyndburn Borough Council removed the climbing frame and swing facilities intended for the children in Huncoat Village without any prior warning. This leaves the children of Huncoat Village with nowhere to play in order to gain exercise or socialise with other children. This will indeed have a negative impact on their health and wellbeing. So please support the Village by signing the following petition.

I am truly overwhelmed by the momentum this has gained lately and I never imagined so many people would join this effort. This is entirely due to your dedication to our children and I feel honored to be part of the change you are creating.

Just because the big plan to remodel wasnt acceptable to all was no justification for taking away what was!!! If it needed an upgrade it could have been carried out on the same scale.Instead its yet another example of hbc deciding what is best for the village against the villagers wishes and without care for the residents.

Local residents were sent details around 12montgs ago of new facilities intended to upgrade the park. To remove the facilities is not just a failure to deliver on promises but fails our children on a much wider sense in an area well known for a high prevelance of health conditions in later life - outdoors and exercise are key for children.

I remember this park being refurbed back in 93-94 as we all ran down from the school field to try it, you cant expect village kids to trek to bolton ave that is not safe at all and the local kids to the village dont deserve to loose out on childhood experiences & memories

There has been a park on that field for over 50 years, the original park was at the entrance of the park off station road and lower gate road, bring it back !

Absolute disgrace, my home backs on to this park and I know how well used it was by the local children. There is nothing in Huncoat Village for the youngsters, they can't be expected to track all the way over to Bolton Avenue!

Can't believe they would do this to a park. Should put one back up and make it a bigger and better one for upset all the kiddies!!!
