Agreed the flag should be changed back. I the new flag commits all of the "don't does" for designing a flag.

Personally I like the new flag better. The old flag doesn't even have any cool gradients! But good luck with the petition.

Fly the current Louisville flag (which looks like a corporate logo) with the Kentucky flag. Walk a few blocks away. Look back. They look identical. It's awful.

As a graphic designer, it pains me to look at the Louisville-Jefferson Co. Metro flag. The gradients, drop shadows, and text are all terrible from a flag-design perspective. The old flag was a much more successful design.
