Bring Back The Last of Us Factions 2 – Let the Community Play

We’re fans of The Last of Us—and more than that, fans of Factions.
When Naughty Dog announced they were working on a standalone multiplayer game for Part II, it gave many of us hope that the grounded, intense, survival-based mode we loved was coming back in a bigger way.
Over time, the project went silent. Eventually, we were told it was shelved. And while we understand how tough game development is—and how priorities shift—it still hurt to know that so much work, passion, and community support was left behind.
But here’s the thing: we still care.
Many of us would be happy with just the core gameplay. We don’t need massive live-service elements or battle passes. Just give us something. An early-access version, a scaled-back release, even a spiritual successor—we’d play it, support it, and talk about it every day.
With games like ARC Raiders drawing comparisons, it’s clear this kind of multiplayer experience still has a place. The tension, the teamwork, the scarcity—it’s unmatched. And there’s still a huge community that would show up in full force if given the chance.
So we’re asking:
Please reconsider. Let the community experience what was built. Even if it’s rough around the edges. Even if it’s not what you originally envisioned. We’re still here—and we’d still play it.
Signed,
Fans of Factions
