Why would a Catholic school not let the children celebrate Christmas? ALSO, Hallowe'en is actually the eve of celebrating All Saints' Day, Nov 1, another Catholic holiday.

I would say we are down to 10-15% of the extra curricular activities we used to have at the school. It's all gone now. The kids notice and ask us why this has happened.

I have many more things to add to the list: Monthly Spirit Awards which embodied the Catholic teachings of Jesus and rewarded children for being kind, good sharing skills, thoughfulness, etc..., children doing the morning prayers, in School paid activities (Ukelele, Karate, Yoga, etc...), Unpaid teacher/principal activities at recess (Soccer baseball, scrabble, etc...), End of the year awards, French Cafe WITH!!!! family attendance, kindergarden Christmas concert, primary christmas concert, transparency regarding school spending, LAX rules on devices in school (not locking them up, shared areas, etc..) Parent Open House as a FAMILY event, the money to run Fun Fair as a NON Profit give back event to parents, Birthday Bookmarks, Movie nights, a paid DJ for Dancethon, days without uniform, the lack of the School Board designated snack treat days, parent run activities. This list is very long, and very sad.

Very upset about everything that has been taken away from the kids this needs to change as a parent of a child that goes there I am very disappointed in the school and the new principal making all of these changes

My family would love to have the Christmas concert back! I agree that it is an important part of growing up to be apart of these types of things! It also brings the kids together and gives them something fun to work towards.

I was at Out Lady of Fatima for all of my years in elementary school, which ended two years ago. I always remembered Mr.Hendricks being not the best principal as I got older but the year that I left he did too. Then they got a new guy that apperently no parents like. My best friends sister is currently in grade 7 there and every time I see her, she has something to say about the dress down days. When I went to Olf there was no worry in the world about wearing what we wanted on those days. Then the not being able to bring it food! When it was a holiday that's all the we worried about, even the teachers tell us to bring in fruit and vegetables and we did. Besides having a cupcake and a few chips, I don't see anything wrong with having that at school. Bring back the fun at Olf and every kid no matter what age deserve to have fun!

No wonder children are learning to dislike school. We all had great experiences in school, Halloween, Chirstmas concerts etc. We did not turn out bad instead he have great memories of school, like it should be. A place of learning is more then class room and books! As a teaching professional you should know this better than anyone else!

I wish this would extend to my children's school as well. My daughters birthday is Halloween and she has been very diappointed that last few year as she is only allowed to weAr Orange and black to school and no treats to celebrate with school friends for her birthday.

We need to hva e fun. Our son started Fatima last yr an did the halloween parade in jk. But this year he couldn't. How is thi s fair to any child. Christmas is not Christmas without hearing our children sing. Please reconsider

The fun of school is all being taken away... how do we expect our children to learn if you take away all of the fun of learning?! If it's not enjoyable you won't engage them... allowing only the ELKP classes to partake is hypocritical and unfair to the rest of the children.

This is going over board! You're hurting the children of the whole school to protect - wait, why are you doing this? These celebrations have been going on for generations. You got your treats as a kid, let the children get theirs. At least they can still celebrate Christmas and sing songs and...wait, not even Christmas?
If you want to be inclusive of other religions, include them too. This is a religious school, no? It is 2015. Be inclusive instead of exclusively saying NO! Teach the children there are different people who celebrate different things, instead of burning the history books and telling them to wear super exciting black and orange colours. You're teaching our kids to be ignorant of the world around them. How about you just EDUCATE them about the REAL world and not the imaginary one you prefer to live in.

It's for the fun of the kids...instead of totally cancelling it set boundaries like other schools do! Then everyone can enjoy it!

As a grandparent of a student at Lady of Fatima (Grimsby) it makes me sad to know that my grandchild will not be able to enjoy the simple traditions and memories that her parents enjoyed while in school such as dressing up for Halloween and being in a Christmas play .. ...I know that both take lots of extra hours to arrange but I am sure there are many parents and grandparents like myself that would only be to happy to volunteer our time....please re-consider this

Thank you for starting this petition! It makes me so said thinking that my children won't have the cherished memories of Christmas plays, Halloween costumes, bringing treats for our friends... The fun memories will be gone :(

I cannot believe this school is being so rigid on traditions that have been in place since I was in school. Lighten up. Life is short enough. Also, no Christmas concert in a catholic school is not acceptable and a disgrace in my opinion.

Yes!!!!! Bring back the fun of traditions and holiday events . That's the only time we get to see our kids in school .
