By the way, I don't know what's happening with this site, but I live in SW11, not in Sidcup. Jane Barry

We want 170 to pass Lombard road again!

This is unacceptable. The 170 provides essential transport for me to and from work/other journeys.

I am listing below the contact details for the TFL Area Manager for Wandsworth. He is an obstructive man who will not give out any details, claiming that it is not ‘company policy to talk to members of the public’. Bombard him with calls – he hates it! The reality is that TFL ordered the bus company to buy a new fleet of less polluting vehicles, and specified which buses they should buy. These new buses were able to fit under the bridge at Lombard road travelling towards Clapham Junction. However, the bridge is placarded max height 10ft, and these buses are 10ft5in high so the route has been diverted for ’safety’ reasons. My understanding is that the bus company and TFL are in dispute over who should pay the costs of rectifying this problem. Meanwhile we are left without the service. Mr David Lesley tel: 0203 054 1422 Ref : Lombard rd. SO17 - 5711

The lack of this service leaves me carrying heavy shopping a long way (I live just off Battersea Square in Granfield Street) and makes for a long, dark, quite scary walk when I return home from Central London late at night. In addition, I also weekly visit my partner in a Putney nursing home via the 170, and on the outward journey am usually carrying a rucksack full of provisions for him - once again, a long, unwelcome walk to catch the bus. Please bring back the old buses, which had more seating and didn't smell so markedly of pollution (or is it burning rubber?).

The new buses were quite happily passing under the bridge until a new driver objected. TfL should have checked first.

Can we please have the buses that do fit under the bridge designated to this route? There is no nearby alternative for those who can't walk far.

Please bring back the 170 bus route in Battersea. It would really make a difference, particularly to the elderly!

This bus route is wonderful for residents in Battersea and especially useful for accessing St Mary's Parish Church where many people worship. Without this vital bus link we are cut off from public transport.

It is utterly outrageous to cancel the only bus which serves this densely populated area!

Residents in The area heavily relied on this service: it is totally outrageous to cancel the only bus service from this densely populated area

Height should have been considered before new buses were sourced.

An appalling failing of planning and controls , which needs investigation and a public explanation --and an assurance that such blunders will not occur again plus the restoration of the full 170 service with the right buses.

What a disgrace. UK Town planning at its finest. Well I guess the residents of the glitzy new Barrett tower block (0% affordable and minimal public benefit) don’t ride the bus with the low life pond scum anyway. Sell your soul to Asia for your ghost town you scum.

170 bus very important for.transport links to Victoria and onwards to Kings Cross Station, Liverpool Street Station, Stansted Airport, and the City.

Ridiculous to do this with no warning or apology

The new buses were negotiating the bridge safely for some considerable time prior to the withdrawal of service. TFL are demonstrating a total failure to recognise the profile of their own vehicles and how the highest point on them can pass very easily through the arch structure. This matter could be sorted with one site inspection from TFL to observe how numerous other vehicles including council refuse trucks that have triggered the warning boards pass through without incident.
