We, the undersigned, call on the Kingstonian board to reinstate ‘Everybody wants to rule the world’ by Tears for Fears as the song accompanying the players’ entry on to the field at Kingsmeadow. For 20 years fans have recognised the familiar opening guitar ‘lick’ of this great new wave pop song as heralding the entry of the teams and the start of the match. We understand that there was some concern the song was ‘out of date’ but we believe the club should protect the distinctiveness of the supporter experience here and only change traditions when there is a clear rationale for doing so and in full consultation with those affected.
