The grad books are one of the amazing traditions that every Southridge graduate looks forward to receiving! I absolutely love mine and will cherish it forever! Flipping through pages of memories on your grad night is something that I would want every future graduate to experience!

I loved receiving my grad book! It was such a great way to look back on my time during highschool and elementary school. There are already so many traditions over recent years that have been taken away by new administration, and I seriously don't understand why the school would want to take away something that so perfectly represents the grad's time at sridge!

Southridge should be promoting the value of books over technology. This tradition is a physical manifestation of how Southridge values their students, especially their grad classes whose time at Southridge is coming to an end. Since students and their families pay a hefty tuition to attend Southridge, they should be able to leave Southridge knowing that their time (and investment) were appreciated. Bring this tradition back for the students, they all deserve it as much as alumni did.

Having worked on the grad books for my older daughter's year and then being at Grad when the students received them, I was able to see the absolute joy on each student's face as they relived connections they have made and experiences they have had over their years at Southridge, regardless of whether it was 5 years at the Senior school or 13 years at both schools. That moment, and all those that follow whenever this special keepsake is brought out, can never be replaced by a flash drive or Vidigami website with a collection of pictures. It is truly a shame if the school does not recognize the significance of these books.

Our family fully supports the continuation of this special tradition which we understand to be unique to Southridge. Termination of such a special book would be a terrible shame and we expect that Southridge would do everything in its power to honour the graduating classes as they have the past graduating classes in keeping this cherished tradition of the personal grad book for each individual student. Parents are happy to participate in the creation of their child's book and are prepared to pay the associated costs for this special keepsake. The Hartshorne Mehl Family.

Interesting to me that parents are often consulted before many decisions are made at the school: long range planning, building renovations, school direction etc but on something so personal and cherished nobody consulted with the parents and/or students before making this decision. I could perhaps understand if the bulk of the work were done by staff and administration and they just don’t have the time or resources but it seems to me there’s more than enough parents willing and able to take this on and pay for it as well. So where is the stumbling block? It’s a shame that this also happens to be the graduation class with the largest number of “lifers” in it and yet we won’t have this valuable commemorative album to enjoy for them??

Most of the students at Southridge have spent five or more years giving a lot to this school through their efforts in academics, athletics, the arts, and more. This gift is a way of thanking the students for their time and dedication, which I believe is something that future students should continue to be recognized for.

Grad students loved receiving their photo books as a present and I would like my youngest to receive one as well. It is one of the school traditions that should continue.

This book is a treasure for each grad. Something this valuable to their memories of a precious time in these students lives should not taken away when parents are willing to bare the cost and volunteer the hours to make them.

As a former Head Girl of Southridge, I am deeply saddened to hear that there will no longer be personalized grad books. I don't understand why they would remove these amazing memories of Southridge, as it is the students on grad committee and parent volunteers that do a lot of the work! I graduated 2 years ago and I still look at the memories from mine today.

Very sad to hear that Southridge not continuing with these grad books. As a parent, really enjoyed putting them together and think the grads really enjoy these lovely keepsakes - so many memories - all in one book - that they will treasure for the rest of their life. It is things like the grad book, where Southridge works together as a community - with all the students, parents, teachers and administrators that make Southridge the truly wonderful school that it is. Please reconsider.
