After the amazing finale that was Azran Legacy(or Unwound Future, if you're talking about the games in a chronological order rather than by release date), Layton simply cannot stop there.

They said they weren't going to do anymore games after Lost future/Unwound future and then they promptly went and made a Prequel trilogy, a movie and even a crossover with Ace Attorney.
It'd be interesting to see a post original trilogy, trilogy. At the end of Lost future there was space left hanging for a new game afterwards. Plus now with added story from the Prequel trilogy, Eternal Diva and Vs. Ace Attorney it'd be interesting where they'd go next considering they have an even more complex universe to work with.
I'm not expecting another crossover with Ace Attorney this kind stuff only happens once, especially since Ace Attorney is now 9 years ahead of the Layton games but given it's now established they're in the same universe, that Emmy was an assistant once and various things to do with Layton's past, a new post-original trilogy seems in order because of how much has now been established.
