As you all know by now the Durham College executives recently got fired from their positions with no just cause. Jaylan Hayes, Toosa Bush and Geoffrey Olara worked extremely hard to get into their positions by campaigning everyday and showing the student body how much they care about the students. We are all devastated that the people we voted for and supported has been relieved of their duties with no explanation. This was a great opportunity for students of colour to be a part of important initiatives within the school and it is very disheartening to hear this news

I have been reading every single comment left on this petition and the stories of betrayal shared by my fellow students are completely heartbreaking. Jaylan, Toosa, and Geoffrey deserved better than this treatment and I am currently working to get an official explanation from the administration regarding why they were removed.

Seeing the momentum build reminds me how much Jaylan and the others fought for our community. We are within reach of five hundred names and need everyone to send this link to three friends right now to keep the pressure on.

I am signing because after reading the articles it seems there is no justification for this action, especially for all three to be dismissed. The fact that there was no reason for termination stated in the letter is also concerning.
Alumni of Durham College and University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Students need a voice from someone representative of them. These gentlemen were elected and wrongfully dismissed.
I watched these young men work HARD to get their positions. They talked to fellow students, took notes and listened. I watched them daily working to get their votes.
School is supposed to be a reflection of the larger society and since this is a democratic society these wonderful young men should be reinstated. They are doing exactly what we tell young people to do which is to be involved and productive in their community.
They need to give a proper reason for their termination. Being intentionally vague about the termination like what is going on now gives the instant assumption of racism which is something we all don't want.
Idk what happened but you guys did a great job from my stand point. There should be a reason that they took u off smh
I voted for all three of these guys because I believe that they would be best option there respected position and help lead Durham College to a tomorrow

Canadian institutions are doing the same as their US counterparts institutional racism is becoming more out in your face than before it is high time we push back instead of sitting complacent Durham College is suppose to be a teaching institution an environment where we learn tolerance and Co existence I fully agree with this petition
