Bring Back Non-Resident Parking, Bethany Beach, Delaware

Please allow non residents to continue tp park before 10 am an after 4 pm. If this is not done, we will start going to Rehobeth and Dewey beaches and their restaurants instead of Bethany.

Bring back the Parking, don't make Bethany Beach a Ghost town

I think the changes were well-intentioned, but they are not working. Let the local community enjoy our town again. This is hurting all of the Bethany businesses.

OBVIOUSLY you don’t care about the local businesses!!! Shame on you

I can understand and support the need for safe distancing on the beach (and elsewhere), but what I cannot understand is the exclusivity to beach access being limited to residential permits only. Does that mean they are not at risk for having or sharing COVID 19? Most residents within the specified area have driveways that accommodate 2 cars so why are you giving priority treatment to those who do not need it? I know there are BB residents who do not live in this area and would like easy access to the beach, but that went away years ago with the rapid and rampant development in the area. I own a house outside of BB but very close by and have been coming for 15 years and each year it has become more difficult to find parking anywhere near the beach. I have had to compete for spaces like everyone else although I do pay taxes there (but not to BB town specifically). Put it back the way it was and let beach goers sort it out. By limited space to only BB residents with permits does nothing for COVID 19. It only creates an elitist mentality that has never been BB. It's a shame that this pretty little beach town has become a place where if you are not one of us, we don't want you. Good luck with that. I will find another more welcoming beach instead and I am betting many of us will. You might want to check with your BB businesses before their livelihood all dries up.

Seems counter productive to having managed return for businesses. Just limit all meters to two or three hours and be done.

Too restrictive, discouraging visitors, that can only hurt our economy.

I will greatly miss my walks on the boardwalk, and shopping and dining in town. It was always hard to find parking, but now it will be impossible.

We live in Ocean View and both my children work in Bethany. We always come into Bethany to eat, beach, walk, shop but now with the extreme scarce parking for non residents not sure how we will do that. The businesses will definitely suffer with this since tourist or non residents spend money in town and the businesses only have a few months to make any money. Without metered parking the town will also lose that revenue. I'm sure some people will drive to Rehoboth or Ocean City if not able to park in Bethany,

As a native of the area, I am shocked by how Several of the Bethany Councils decisions have shown their “elitist “ attitude. I never would have expected this attitude-ever- until the last 10 years. Between the issue that rose up between Steens Beach Service awhile back and now this parking issue—— you can tell you don’t care about businesses at all. Reverse your decision- admit that you again made a poor choice and ask for everyone’s forgiveness and move forward.

By taking away parking spaces you were just hurting the businesses.

If you support those local businesses, non-residents need additional parking! Parking has historically been tough, with these new restrictions placed on non-residents I most likely will not spend any time or money in town.

This decision is beyond ridiculous!

I am a homeowner in Ocean View, who does not qualify for a Bethany Beach resident parking pass. Bethany has been my place of choice to reside full-time in the summer for several years. I support this town and its small businesses year round. The new summer parking rules greatly inhibits my ability to do so.

I have a beautiful condominium. Cost about $1 million when we bought it. And now you’re telling me I can’t go downtown. Well I won’t be coming to your town at all then.

We plan to visit this summer. We always spend a few evenings visiting shops, restaurants and enjoying the charm of Bethany. We’re concerned as out of state visitors where we will park. My husband has offered to drop us off and come back for us. It would be a shame that he not join in our Bethany traditions should we not be able to find a place to park.

It’s just as important for family that visits to be able to park in that area! And I totally support the restaurants and shops needing non-residents to be able to park and shop!

I’m sad that many people who visit here in the summer (and spend their money) will now go elsewhere.
