Kim, I am so sorry to hear about your reassignment. I hope you know the community supports you and are so very grateful for the positive impact you have made on so many children's lives - and their families. The Smith family will also remember and be so touched by the care you gave Claire during my cancer treatment; while I lived in Houston during that time. It was a frightening time for our entire family and you were there for us! I hope the show of support helps you gain some bargaining power with the SMSD.

This is heartbreaking. Mrs. R is an experienced and highly competent educator. She provided the nurturing environment my daughter needed to flourish and grow in school. Her years of service should be honored and respected. This causes me to be concerned about our school in general. Thank you to the organizers of this petition for bringing this to our attention!

Allison loved Mrs. R. We would be sad to see her go. To have no notice on the situation seems drastically unfair.

If teachers people love are reassigned without their knowledge and teachers that have had numerous complaints are kept there is seriously something wrong with the system.

Unless this was actually an honest mistake I believe that someone at SMSD needs to be removed from their position for this action. I wish we all had more details about who, what, when, where and how so that we could form a group to take more aggressive action. Petitions are great but when people start to fear for their job because of legal action things will get done very quickly.

This news saddens me! Our boys didn't have Mrs. R for Kindergarten, but she still managed to connect with them and make it known to me how special they were. Nothing about this is ok!

Kim has taught all five of my children in kindergarten and was an ideal teacher for all of them! From my shy, reclusive oldest child to my outgoing and precocious triplets, every one of them absolutely adored her and looked forward to coming to school each and every day. My triplets love her so much that they begged to be in the same second grade class next year, just so they could all have Mrs. R.-- even my most independent child would not even consider going to a different classroom if it meant missing out on the opportunity to have Mrs. R again. This type of behavior from SMSD is part of why so many parents in the SMSD attendance area are fleeing. Mrs. R has dedicated her life to Brookwood and our kids and she deserves to be treated with respect..

Unimaginable! How could a loving, caring, dedicated educator be blind-sided like this? It's just not right.

How and why were parents informed of this change at this late date?

My daughter had Mrs. R for Mrs. Ratliff's irst year at BWD. It was a great experience for our family. Kim was the caring and nurturing, but effective at helping the kids make the transition to elementary school. She prepared them for the years to come. She still ranks at the top of my daughters favorite teachers and experiences at BWD. When my son was in Kgarten we were delighted for him to have Mrs. R. We had the same great experience. When he was diagnosed with a chronic illness who showed up at the hospital? Mrs. Ratliff...with encouragement, understanding and helping us build a strategy to transition him back to the classroom. She even brought him a superman cape which really represented her support of him (and us), but of course delighted our son and brought him hope. Not sure how this could happen to a great lady, but it's very disappointing leadership would stand for it.
