Would she also be fired if the student went to her house with the front door unlocked and stole physical pictures? This is absurd.

The school district could not be more in the wrong on this one. The kid remains unpunished? What kind of parents don't do anything to punish this kind of behavior What is happening to this country?

Redditors like me are asking, "Do we punish you for the damage your car thief does to other vehicles while driving it? Do we punish you if your dog attacks a home invader? Do we put you in jail for causing your own rape if you wear revealing clothing?" Absolutely not. Punishing the teacher for making nude photos available makes as much sense as punishing the administrator if a student stole liquor from his cabinet.
Claiming that the teacher made the photos available by bringing the phone to work and not locking it makes as much sense as saying the administrator's naked body is available because she's bringing it to work and not wearing a chastity belt with a lock.
I'll grant that there should be rules about teachers not bringing porn or alcohol to work, but I feel quite sure the teacher is already suffering enough consequences from this small lapse in judgement.

How ludicrous that she could even slightly be held responsible for this student's encroachment on her privacy! Shame on him! 'Day of reckoning'? What a pervert.

those kids really should be punished, at least the one that stole the photos
clear breach of privacy and what a teacher does in her private time is no concern of any board, parent or student.

Completely unacceptable that she lost her job because of a little brat of a high school student. The student deserves to be punished, not the teacher.

This student invaded a teachers privacy. This student should be punished both by the school administration and possibly legal action. This teacher should be reinstated.

If you left your front door unlocked while you were bringing the trash out, and someone walked into your house and stole your stereo, would it be your fault? Or perhaps the fault of the thief, regardless of age?

The world we live in now, the virtual one has become a prison, an exploitation and a disgrace to human nature. This woman's livelihood, her passion was destroyed because of this virtual world. I understand the pain because I lost my job thanks to some unreliable YELP reviews. We need to change this idea that the individual no longer has credibility. That the world of technology has become in fact a prison. PLEASE GIVE HER JOB BACK. And PLEASE expel the student because in reality, HE violated HER privacy.

The student should be punished not the teacher. Plus it sounds like she was a hell of a teacher in a poor part of the state, which makes this even more ridiculous

This is absolutely ridiculous. I never understand why districts and people treat teachers like absolute crap while paying them next to nothing. They only reason any one would become a teacher is because they have a passion for it. I hope this kind of nonsense won't stand and that she is reinstated.

This is such an awful thing to happen to what appears to be a valuable role model. Hope that those who had her will get her back.
