Its disgusting that the student responsible went unpunished.

This entire situation literally makes no sense. If the student went through the phone of another student he would've been disciplined. But not when he does it to the teacher's phone?

That student should face severe disciplinary actions

So if someone steals my phone, opens a browser to porn, I could be charged? Thats not how it works. Teacher should be reinstated and the student should be the one being punished!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with someone storing pictures of themselves on their own phone. What is wrong is someone violating their privacy by stealing those pictures.

I agree with your actions regarding Mrs. Arthur. But i respectfully disagree with your intended actions with the student responsible. I absolutely think that this student should be berated and fully disciplined to the full letter of the law.
He had full disregard for school rules
He committed theft
He disseminated what he stole
He showed a complete lack of remorse
Everything he did sounds evil and malicious and is in no way a minor or trivial incident. This is the kind of egregious criminal acts which garner the attention of Child Protective Services to determine the exact cause of this, whether it be the parents actions, neglect, or just simply the child.

This is victim shaming! Her photos were stolen and she is punished? All because she wasn't tech savvy enough to put a lock screen on her phone? Stupid school district! Horrible example they are setting by shaming the victims!

So this school is perfectly fine with allowing students to steal private images off of a private devices and then sexually harass the victim all while suffering no punishment. That's really a great lesson the school is teaching that boy.

I can only try to see both sides of the story. It seems like it boils down to whether a person is responsible for stolen information on their phone if it doesn't have a lock or if the person who took the information should be accountable. I believe the person who stole it should be accountable since it was a breech of privacy. If the situation is paralleled to the teacher at her house with the door unlocked, most would agree if someone walks in without permission and takes a photo or copies information is not acceptable behavior. The behavior in question would be of the person breaking in. Schools have a strong background of teaching acceptable behavior and has failed to try to correct the students behavior. I think the school needs to give substantial consideration in their judgement or seek advice from several others as their current reason is not acceptable/obscure from lack of reasoning.

So by this logic, is it my fault that a thief breaks in to my home, steals a kitchen knife, and goes on a murder rampage?

If someone steals my TV because I left my door unlocked, they're still a thief and it doesn't make it legal. The argument that her phone was unlocked holds no merit.
This teacher had her personal privacy violated by a student, and then she has the morals to publicly forgive him. That's EXACTLY the kind of teacher you want in your schools.
I hope the School Board re-evaluates this decision because it makes them look like they have no idea what they're doing.
