After learning of how it all went down, I think the teacher didn't do anything wrong and that the student acted very irresponsibly and maliciously to purposely hurt the teacher. Hopefully the teacher gets her job back and even better if the student gets punished.

Stop victim blaming

This teacher should not have been fired for what was on her PRIVATE PHONE. Are adults not allowed to send pictures to their significant others? This is ridiculous. In an age were sex is everywhere and I am sickened by it, a wife sending her husband a photo on her phone is not wrong. No matter where the teacher was, I'm sure the student would have stolen her phone either way. When a kid wants to play a prank on school, they're going to. This is a matter of the child not being RAISED PROPERLY BY THEIR PARENTS. The student should have known better to A) not steal someone else's property, and B) not share an obviously private photograph. The student should be the only one punished and the students parents should be ashamed for raising such a disrespectful, thieving child.

This situation is stupid, the fault is on the student

It's infuriating. Her privacy is invaded and she's the one in trouble. It makes absolutely no sense.

This was a total violation of her privacy.

From what I'm reading this case defies common sense. She didn't make the pictures available to the student anymore than someone makes a flower pot on their front porch available to someone walking by the house. The student is at fault, not the teacher, and he should suffer the consequences, not the teacher.

Teacher should be protected, kid made an example of, and new leadership positioned in the school administration.

Punish the student responsible! Teach a lesson to your children. This is appalling!

Best of luck to this poor teacher, I hope she finds a position at a school with administration that can recognize her value and place responsibility where it belongs. The student is a child and should not be crucified, but should be held responsible. Allowing the student to get away with such an action with no repurcussions prevents him from learning a lesson from this experience. Perhaps the teacher should have been more careful with her phone, but the student knew that he should not be going through anyone else's belongings.

This is outrageous. I can't believe this isn't a satire, very disappointed in the school where this happened.

The school board is stupid. Bunch of prudes. Kid should be punished, teacher did nothing wrong – it was her PRIVATE property

The circumstances surrounding Mrs. Arthur's resignation are inexcusable- in both an ethical, and legal sense. Despite how she may or may not feel now, Mrs. Arthur was wrongly put into this situation and her position should, at the very least, be offered to her again.

This is a blatant attack on the personal privacy of all teachers everywhere; teachers are human beings who have the right to use their free time and personal property in any manner they see fit; there is no reason that should not include the taking of nude photos. It is an absolute disgrace to blame the victim of such a horrendous crime, let alone punish her!

The fact that the teacher has been punished, but not the student, is mind-blowingly ridiculous.

It's bulls**t that this teacher has had to endure such a prejudice from the "good ole boys" club! The Union County School District's interim Superintendent, David Eubanks, is a disgrace to his position and should no longer be able to sit as interim or even have a seat on the board, PERIOD!! The boy in question should also be punished and not get a pass on his inexcusable disrespect, not to mention thievery. Good luck kiddos on helping your teacher!!

It's a shame that someone's right to privacy was violated and punished for it. Had the principle used common sense and punished the student he wouldn't be learning what the Streisand Effect was.
