Ashton is CORRECT. Thank you for organizing it is about time the lies of school funding being tied to test scores was challenged. Last year parents in Colorado challenged the lie that tests got you into college. This year more than 30% are opting out.

What was done to Ashton was unjust.

This is unbelievable. Even if he did tell the kids not to take the test, I see no problem with this. When did we stop educating our children? Good educators are leaving the profession in droves, and this is just one reason why.

So angry about this. I have already left messages for the superintendent and the principal. Calling Gist next. Mr Ashton is the best teacher at JMW and the reason I have not pulled my kid from the school.

when I dropped my son off at school this morning I was shocked to here this horrible news. we live in Portsmouth and the ONLY reason I have kept my son at JMW is the teachers. specifically Mr Ashton and Ms Carpenter. I respect Mr Ashton enormously because he doesn't treat the kids like mindless hormone bombs. he encourages them to think for the self

this is just plain wrong!... just the fact that nobody is allowed to talk against cc shows that it's bad... but there also is millions of other reasons that cc is bad

Speaking the truth to students should never be perceived as wrong. Please bring back Mr. Ashton. He is an excellent teacher. We need more educators like Mr. Ashton.

I don't understand why the districts are not supporting the efforts to do what is best for children. Any educator, administrator, parent, etc. knows how awful these reforms are. Why are they demanding that everyone remain silent in the face of harmful reforms. Conformity is not best here. It saddens me to see districts that will not stand up for its students and teachers. Make no mistake about it, this is a civil rights movement!

It is wrong to censor teachers. They, too, may be parents and taxpayers.

I meant to post this in my petition signature comment. The article is about SBAC but applies to PARCC as well. https://seattleducation2010.wordpress.com/2015/03/07/will-the-us-department-of-education-take-your-schools-title-1-funds-if-you-opt-your-student-out-of-the-sbac-short-answer-no/

Will the US DOE take your school's Title 1 funds for opting out of Common Core testing? Short answer: No. This article addresses SBAC, but applies to PARCC as well.
