Our children need great teachers! Do not let a teacher who can inspire and prepare students for their future go.

Pittiful, our DOE's have become bullies to not just our children, Parents…but the teachers they employ that question illogical rhetoric that is not researched and documented as being good for you. Target this teacher is wrong, good for the kids/parents in trying to get him back. Although he would go back to a system that is failing the children with their tactics and ethics.

In a way, I am THRILLED that Mr. Ashton's behavior - that being truth-telling - has gotten him suspended, and thus, this school district so much NEGATIVE attention. Perhaps it will be stories like this that will signal the death knell of Common Core, PARCC, and the other needless, never-ending standardized testing to which we are subjecting our children. This MUST come to an end. Our children are absolutely more than a test score! Mr. Ashton is a wonderful example of a true EDUCATOR and he needs to be fully reinstated without recriminations. A HUGE thank you to the students and parents organizing this movement. Kudos to all of you!

Intimidation and fear are used once again to take control. Teachers, students and parents are being intimidated and manipulated daily across the country in the name of testing and accountability. Absolutely terrifying that the administration has done this to a teacher. Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.

I'm from Chillicothe Ohio. This school board should really be ashamed of themselves! Put Ashton back in his classroom! Keep fighting students...I'm very impressed with your efforts!

There has been much misinformation about the PARCC testing coming from RIDE. The districts administrators are being intimidated into thinking there will be dire consequences if the participation rate is not 95%. This is not true. Mr. Ashton was informing his students, not indoctrinating them. It is outrageous that he was suspended for this.

All this is teaching students is that we are unable to voice our opinions and show loyalty to others if even our most trusted and respected teachers cannot. Good luck to those who believe shutting out our voices is a brilliant idea because it isn't.

This screams Administrator error to me. No fact-finding? No assembly to debunk myths (one way or the other)? Please get this resolved in a professional manner.

I don't care if he said it or not, he didn't do anything wrong. Why are teachers being censored?? How is that okay in a democracy. I want my kids to be taught by FREE thinkers.
